What happened to Pet Simulator 99?

Pet Simulator 99 is still receiving published updates. The earlier 2 Nov 2026 research snapshot showed 62,231 playing; the Roblox Games API showed 66,817 during this review. These are two times in one changing public counter, not two independent estimates. A tracker’s reported 186,500 peak is a historical third-party figure rather than an official record. The snapshots establish activity, but do not measure player retention, revenue or the cause of any change.

Ownership claims need a stronger distinction. A 2025 Problox report described new ownership, but the separately accessible LinkedIn post by James Purell says BIG Games “potentially” changed hands and explicitly says no official announcement was available. That post is speculation about coordinated biography changes, not confirmation of a sale or Preston’s departure. No official buyer, acquisition price or revenue figure is established by these sources. The two accounts remain separate rather than being combined into a confirmed acquisition.

Three dates get mashed together. The Roblox place record starts 5 Feb 2022. Fandom sometimes says the game opened 1 Dec 2023. The official Update 1 is 9 Dec 2023. Those are creation, a wiki launch line, and the first numbered patch. Update 100 on 31 Oct 2026 is the proof the patch train did not stop. The 1.5 million concurrent line on the studio games page is Pet Simulator X's record, not this game's.
